Accepting And Rejecting

 • Series: ACTS | Authentic Christians That Serve

ACCEPTING AND REJECTING ACTS 13:42-14:7 Gospel of Jesus Christ is greatest unifying force world has ever seen. In study of Acts we have seen Jews and Samaritans, Jews and Gentiles brought together in the body of Christ, the church. On the other hand, Gospel also divides. Reason is not fault of the Gospel but responses to it. I. GOSPEL IN ANTIOCH PISIDIA 13:42-52. Initially, response to Paul’s sermon in the synagogue was so desirable vs. 42, 43. As a result, the city stood at God’s dividing line. By the 2nd Sabbath, enemies of Gospel were envious Contrast of reactions stated in v. 45 and v. 48. The Jews were jealous, while Gentiles were joyous. The Jews judged themselves unworthy (v. 46) but Gentiles were appointed to eternal life. When people repudiate, push the Gospel away, there is no other way for salvation. II. GOSPEL IN ICONIUM 14:1-7. When Paul could not preach in one place, he did not quit, simply found another place to share preach. The pattern for their work followed again (v.1a) and again God blessed their efforts (v. 1b). Important contrast: one side is obedient while the other side is disobedient. The opposition moved from talebearing to physical assault. We place ourselves on one side of dividing line or the other. Day is coming when the FINAL division will be made that is unchanging and unchangeable!
