DON’T LOSE YOUR SONG ACTS 16:22-34 In Acts 16 Paul, along with Silas, sets off on his 2nd missionary journey. In Philippi, Lydia, successful business woman became a Christian, Paul cast a demon from a slave girl. As a result, they were arrested,, beaten, and imprisoned, but they did NOT lose their song. Bible is clear God cares, wants His people to be confident, happy, song-filled people. I. DOES NOT DEPEND ON CIRCUMSTANCES. Everything in life is NOT always fair, from our observations, life may not seem right. Remember, Paul and Silas were in prison and under unfavorable circumstances, they sang and prayed. Stocks were an instrument of torture and confinement Filth infested prison, position of pain did NOT rob them of their privilege of prayer and singing. KEY: what the world cannot give us, the world cannot take away from us (Jn. 14:27). II. DOES DEPEND ON CONSECRATION. YES, it matters whose we are and to whom we belong. Paul and Silas sang at midnight, in horrendous situation, because they belonged to the Lord and Savior. III. HAVING A SONG IS CHRISTIANITY. The spirit and attitude of Paul and Silas can have a powerful impact on others. Can very well be an avenue of leading others to the Song-Giver!! World around us sing songs of despair, defeat, but child of God sings songs of joy, peace, and hope!
