PAUL’S FAREWELL TOUR

 • Series: ACTS | Authentic Christians That Serve

PAUL’S FAREWELL TOUR ACTS 20:1-12 When we come to Acts 20 we are reading about the apostle Paul’s 3rd missionary journey. In Acts 20:1-6, Dr. Luke passed over about 18 months of Paul’s journeys in AD 56/57. Although Paul was in a hurry to arrive at Jerusalem, he stayed in Troas to meet with the brethren. The church worshipped on 1st day of the week because Jesus rose from the dead on that day. I. THE MIDNIGHT MESSAGE 20:7, 8. S eems the church in Troas met at night—v. 8. ‘Talking’ is word we get dialogue, Paul had much on his heart to preach, share with them. These brethren were NOT so regulated by the clock. II. THE MISHAP 20:8, 9. Paul kept talking (preaching), young man named Eutychus was overcome by sleep, fell from window. Someone humorously defined preaching as: ‘the art of talking in other people’s sleep.’ I’m impressed with young man who loved the Lord and willing to stay for extended service. III. THE MIRACLE 20:10-12. Bringing Eutychus back to life validated faith for the members in the concept of resurrection! Word for ‘talk’ is different from talking in v. 7. This is word for relaxed conversation, friendly talking Sometimes physical drowsiness is a symptom of a more serious problem: Spiritual slumber! Apostle Paul challenged spiritual sleepy heads in Romans 13:11 and in Ephesians 5:14.
